Joy Carman is licensed in both Florida (LMHC-9977) and Arizona (LPC-13114). She joined Bradenton Counseling Center in January 2022, where she sees clients both in the office and online. Joy has been working in the mental health field since 2005.
Joy specializes in treating and healing trauma, abuse, and PTSD, using trauma-reducing therapies. She has experience working with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and other mental health disorders, spiritual abuse, relationship issues, women’s issues, aging, grief and loss, and transitions. Joy uses the treatment modalities of cognitive behavioral therapy, brief solution-focused therapy, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), and TIR (Traumatic Incident Reduction). She works with adolescents, individual adults, and couples.
Joy has worked with a variety of cultural backgrounds, spiritual beliefs, and populations, including clients who are active military or military families, adolescents, young adults, homeless, veterans, seriously mentally ill, women, senior citizens, and those living alternative lifestyles. She welcomes working with anyone who is interested in personal growth, healing, and empowerment. Joy has taught classes and workshops, and she has facilitated groups.
Joy earned her bachelor of arts degree in psychology (BA) and master of arts degree in professional counseling (MAPC) from Ottawa University. Joy has certifications of advanced degrees in clinical counseling and trauma, abuse, and deprivation (CAGS), and the credentials of national certified counselor (NCC) and board certified telemental health provider (BCC-TMHP).
